What to tell us
You don't need measurements or a spec — a rough description is plenty to start. The things that help most are whether it's interior or exterior, roughly how big the job is (a room, a whole floor, the full outside of the house), the town you're in, and any timeline you're working to.
If something is already failing — paint peeling, a deck gone grey, water staining on a ceiling — mention it. Those are the details that change what prep a job needs, and knowing about them up front means the estimate you get is the number you'll actually pay rather than one that moves once we see the surface.
